A BOLD EXPRESSION
IRÍSTON
THE FOLIO
IRÍSTON.
Our namesake Hawthorn Tree grows on the townland of Baile Iristín (Ballyeriston).
It was from here that an agriculturist set out across the world, returning with stories and amazing objects collected on these travels. One of these, a handmade leather folio from Damascus, used for 50 years and then hidden away amongst luggage, was found in a byre beside the Hawthorn Tree.
CRAFTED.
Generously made from supple calf leather, The IRÍSTON Folio’s minimalist exterior is striking and dignified. Designed to match the size and impressive hand craft skill that went into making the original folio from Damascus, large pockets carry documents and notes worth keeping close.
Inside we conceived The IRÍSTON Emblem. A suede lined asymmetrical image in leather, reflecting the view from the Hawthorn, and depicting the hills that reach the rivers and the sea beneath the sun.

Part of an oral tradition, since the early 1600’s Baile Iristín has had many spellings and in IRÍSTON we playfully establish another. Compounding the translated meanings for Baile ‘Home’ and Irís ‘Magazine’ - in a name that combines place, identity, and discovery - The IRÍSTON Emblem is a reflection on the pages of a story to be told.
